We provide comprehensive, personalized spanish instruction for first-responders.
Mezcla™ is devoted to successfully training law enforcement officers relevant, correct, and respectful Spanish language and cultural tools to facilitate successful interactions within their respective communities. The Code 3 Spanish™ curriculum remains current and relevant because we continuously interact with law enforcement officers in the field to identify new situations to include in the training materials. Also, we developed the curricula during ride-alongs with non- Spanish speaking law enforcement officials to gain first-hand experience of situational needs in Spanish language and culture.
Mezcla™ started as a volunteer effort in 2001. Stephanie Craft volunteered as a Spanish instructor for almost one year at the Texas Department of Public Safety (Texas DPS). After successfully training almost three hundred students in two recruit schools, the Former Captain of the Texas Department of Public Safety's Training Academy determined that Stephanie and her Code 3 Spanish™ curriculum should be compensated. She founded Mezcla™ in 2003 and dedicated her efforts to develop a living curriculum to help law enforcement officials safely and successfully perform in the field with native Spanish speakers.
Stephanie Craft is the Founder and President of Mezcla™. Stephanie is a native English speaker who has lived and worked in Latin America , Europe, and North America. She is personally familiar with the challenges that adults face when learning a new language and culture. She completed her Master of Science in Management at Purdue University and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing at the University of Texas at Austin. She lives and works in Austin, Texas, but frequently travels to Spanish speaking countries including Guatemala, México, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Perú, Spain, and the commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
Stephanie personally interviews, tests, and hires instructors to teach the Code 3 Spanish™ curriculum that she authored and published. Mezcla™ instructors are either native Spanish speakers or they are proficient Spanish speakers after living and working in Spanish speaking countries. We take our instructional role very seriously – it is an honor to help prepare first responders in the Spanish language and culture.
